Vietnam is a nation of young people, with more than 65 percent of the population born after 1975. Education has always been a priority for the people of Vietnam, yet tens of thousands of children are deprived of a fundamental education due to poverty and the inability to afford school fees, books, and uniforms.
In keeping with LHAF’s mission, our School Scholarship Program focuses on improving the educational opportunities for young people in central Vietnam. From primary school to high school, school fees vary widely depending on the family’s economic situation and the location of the school their child attends. Schools in the cities generally levy higher fees than those in the countryside. School fees for children in LHAF’s 2007-08 scholarship program range from $35 to $150 US.
For the cost of dinner for two in the US, a child from a disadvantaged Vietnamese family who has had to drop out of school may remain in school for an entire year. With your generous help, a child may begin or continue his or her education which will help the child to become a productive citizen and a source of pride for Vietnam.
Please give now and generously to this worthy program.
