Our Mission

Lotus Humanitarian Aid Foundation (LHAF) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 2006. LHAF provides humanitarian aid to needy individuals, families, and small communities in Viet Nam with an eye toward connecting the donors, staff, and beneficiaries on a personal, intimate level – thus, promoting a meaningful relationship to all parties.

Aid from LHAF addresses the needs of the poorest within those categories (individual, family, and community); helping them obtain basic needs otherwise unobtainable. Our work is not limited to but focuses on funding activities such as:

Funding for our aid comes from individual donors and organizations with a philanthropic interest in Viet Nam and are willing to make unrestricted contributions. Once a donation is received donors will be assigned a specific case that their donation will serve.
  • No government money will be accepted.
  • No large institutional funding will be accepted with conditions attached.
  • LHAF fund raising will proceed with a mind toward connecting people-to-people.  Donors will be encouraged to follow case work associated with their donation. Viet Nam veteran organizations will be encouraged to support the cost of a rural pre-schools/kindergartens and maintain an on-going relationship which they can visit when traveling to Viet Nam.

LHAF does not pretend to change the world. LHAF is simply about people helping people.  It seeks to help individuals and small communities one at a time through an intimate process from donor, to staff, to beneficiary.  It will strive to help individual donors achieve a measure of personal connection between themselves and the individuals they help.
